Appreciation Fundraiser: Michael & Karen

Michael & Karen Matsuda

Presented by Kitty Pleasant
Kitty and Michael, the museum president and founder, were talking about all the Honor Days he had hosted at the museum. Probably about 150 honor days have been hosted over the last 25 years.

Kitty said, “When was the last time anyone honored you and Karen for all the work you have done?” Michael answered, “We have never been honored in the past 25 years, in fact, we’ve only received three thank you cards in all that time. In fact, of all the honor days, only five people have ever called afterward to say thank you for honoring them.”

Kitty said, “Well, that’s going to stop right now. You and Karen have done so much for the community and sacrificed everything for this museum, even your home and livelihood. I’m going to coordinate a day to honor you and Karen. I’m just shocked no one has ever done anything special for you both. I’m going to host this Nov. 16, a Michael Matsuda honor day.”

Michael answered, “I am honored Kitty, but, we must do it in conjunction with the museum’s 25th anniversary.” Kitty said, “Done!”

Kitty added, “I want people not to just appreciate you, but give something on your behalf. Perhaps some funds so you two can take a small trip, go out to dinner together, enjoy a game or something nice. I’m going to ask people to make a donation, not to the museum, but to you both as their way of saying thank you for all that you both do. People don’t realize when the museum can’t afford it’s rent, you and Karen pitch your own funds and don’t ever get repaid. This is your day and I hope everyone will make a donation.”
